Animal Totems v.s. Animal Guides

Posted by Brian on March 16, 2010

I have been asked several times this week what the difference is between totems and guides. The simple answer is that the animal guide is a guide like any other of the 5 guide types; they are there to make sure you are led to where you need to be in life when you need to be there. The totem itself is you I each of your two outer bodies. Note the third body of one’s self also known as the soul or spirit is connected to the creator or God and as thus is all things at all times.

A person has an out or top totem that matches their outer bodies unique personalities and spirit. This animal can be anything of the earthly realm of past or present. It can be of any version of our winged, legged or finned brothers and sisters. While or animal guide can be any animal it wants to be. I know several people that have an animal guide of a dragon and even other people that have guides of unicorns and faeries.

Also it is good to note that peoples totems can and often do change as their inner or outer bodies transition through life. Their animal guide though often remains the same animal throughout ones life. This can be very confusing as people often see many animals about them and often do not know which their totem is and which their guide is.

Also at times their guide can disappear for long periods of time leaving animal totems which then can be easily picked up as guide. Also some people can have more than two totems at any given time due their personality being in a shift, this often makes it look as if they have more totems than they truly have.

At times like these, when people are in transitional stages, they need to look at how their life may be changing and why. This week or possibly this month I will be posting different animal guides and totems and the meanings behind each in hope of being of some help in sorting this out.

Also good to note that peoples animal guides are huge in shape and stature, often many times larger than their totems and at times many times more surreal-almost God-like. While their totems though they may be large, their size and stature measure up nicely to the true animals size.

An answer to how to contact ones spirit animal?

Posted by Brian on February 17, 2010

“Hi there yes an astrologer told me it might be good for me to contact my totem spirit guide, as I often feel over not so good spirits around me at times, so yes if you could let me know how I could go about getting in touch with mine.”

Meditation would be the first place to look for messages and or appearances of a spirit guide and animal. However, I know many people who can’t meditate for long enough periods of time due to restless minds. Thus, I first tell people to seek their guides in their dreams.

Dreams are times when most people can easily disconnect from this plane of existence to the astral world. If you can easily dream then I would suggest this method of spirit contact first. But, please continue to work on meditation for there are amazing healing and psychic qualities there also.

Dream letter writing to ones spirit guide

I always suggest if one can’t meditate then dream on it. Simply on a blank sheet of paper write any questions down. Write them so that their simple to remember. Place this paper under your pillow just before bedtime. If it is for your animal totem or guide make sure too plainly and fully state that in your question…

Once you’re ready to go to sleep, lie down and gently go to sleep. As you feel yourself fading into sleeping dreams make sure you take your paper and question with you. Follow your dream where ever it may lead being fully cognizant of yourself and your question.

Once you awake try writing anything and everything down on a nearby blank notepad. Remembering that rather than hearing something, you might have gotten a feeling or a sensation of something. It is important to write it down, write everything down as you have felt it, heard it or seen it to the best of your ability.

This will be the beginning of contact with your guides. They may present you with a gift, or they may speak to you by answering a question you have posed, or they just might state some words of comfort or inspiration. If this is the first time of meeting, they may tell you their name. You may recognize this name, or you may not.

Practice connecting to your Spirit Guides at least once per day, for it may take a few days to make contact. If it takes a week do not give up. Soon contact will be made and in time this contact will become easier for you.

Are animal totems the same as spirit guides?

Posted by Brian on February 13, 2010

Spirit guides may or may not also be totem animals. I have a spirit guide who comes to me as large black wolf. I also have an bear and crow that come as my totems not as a spirit guide. A spirit guide is a teacher with something to teach you. While a totem animal is often parts of you, they are also there to protect you throughout life as you travel through all of life’s learning experiences.

Your totems choose you before you enter this life much as a spirit guide, but they often only follow you through the one life cycle, where as spirit guides are often there through them all. Animal guides are given as protection, where totem animals are chosen to help you and remind you of a life path.

Many times also totem animals live in your vicinity there they will make often appearances in your daily lives. This is especially true if one wanders too far off their life course. Totems will appear as a special reminder to correct your stray and to get back on one’s life path.

An animal guide may not be in your locale as they can appear also at times as mystical beasts such as dragons, hydras etc. When your guide makes an appearance listen to it clearly for they appear with specific messages. Guides will appear less often and usually only when there is a message to be told. As such animal guides may seem to leave a person for a very long time only to reappear in times of need.

Ones totem animals can change during your life as you grow and change your totem animals so may they change. People have many totem animals ranging from a polar totem-how you appear to the outside word to a bipolar totem how your life lessons have affected you inwardly. While others still line up in positions of inner qualities. As such they change when you change they change.

Sometimes you will have a name for your totem animal; this is not a must for they at times do not like to be named. However if you must they will tell you what it is. Your animal guide is a different story. They will and can be named for they are there for you always, when it is time they too will let you know their name. When an animal guide accepts you and appears to tell you their name, remember it, for that from then on is how they will want to be named. When they are named they then can be called upon in times of trouble.

However, your guide is a guide and is or may not always be there as the totems may be. Guides often have people that they share and things they too must do. So, do not be afraid when they seem to have taken off. Also, even though they can be called upon when they give you their names they do not always appear and if you abuse their reason for being will often appear less and less often. Thus it is best to honor them as a higher being of light.

A totem is one of your own many faces. That is why some people call them “familiars”. Totems are always there and do not run. They are there as outer parts of your being. As such name them if you must but it is not necessary. Do not be afraid nor will you feel afraid of your totems unless you are afraid of yourself, totems are extensions of the true you and will keep you on the right path if you stray. Notice their changes as they will change as you change and as such are life lessons there to keep one on their paths.

Spirit guides are helpers here to teach you intent, emotional control, knowledge and purity if you allow them to. Remember it is always your free will to learn or not to learn from them. They are with you to be honored not ignored, for they are also message bringer. They are to be reverend not as ego boosters, for if they feel this they will run until you learn to honor them and place them in their proper place as a higher form of guide.

Do all pets go to Heaven?

Posted by Brian on February 28, 2009

I have heard this question many times and feel as I should put it here.  All animals go to heaven.

Animals are Gods perfect creation, regardless of species. Pets though seem to hold a special place amongst us, for they are there when needed. They listen when we don’t think anyone else will and love us when we don’t think anyone else does. Pets live with us for many years and sometimes even outlive us, but they are always there for us. There are many stories of our pet friends finding us countless miles away to ones that have brought patients back from recovery, there’s all sorts of stories. Why they do this is because they are truly gifts from above. God has sent them to people for proof of endearing love, also that we too have it in us and learn to show it with out questions.

Could you imagine if animals, especially pets asked this silly question.” Mom do all humans go to heaven? ”

This question could be broken down to even different levels, the answer will always be a resounding yes, if it lives, and everything lives, it goes to heaven. Heaven is not a special place for good things, and bad things do not enter there, everything in its own time goes to heaven, for it is a spiritual creation. Nothing is created by itself, God did that. And in so doing, all will go to heaven and be reconnected on the other side..
